How to Enroll in BLVS Full Time

To start the enrollment process, please read the steps below and click the "Next" button to advance to the following page. The enrollment process involves several steps, so we encourage you to start early.

Basehor-Linwood Virtual School provides students with an outstanding connection to accredited public school resources, certified teachers, and standardized curriculum and assessments. Our program is created by district teachers to mirror the concepts and standards being taught in the brick-and-mortar classroom.

 

BLVS Full-Time Enrollment:

Please review the following requirements carefully to determine if your student is eligible to enroll as a full-time student with Basehor-Linwood Virtual School (BLVS).
 
If you are a returning student, please contact the BLVS office to confirm that we have all of the following required information on file.

Residency Requirements

  • The student must be a legal resident of the State of Kansas.

Age Requirements

  • Students enrolling in Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before August 31st in the school year for which he or she is enrolling.
  • Students enrolling in first grade must be 6 years old on or before August 31st in the school year for which he or she is enrolling.
  • Students must be 19 or under on September 20th of the enrollment year to be enrolled as a full-time student.
  • Students who are 20 or over on September 20th of the enrollment year will be enrolled as an adult learner.

Academic Recommendations

Incoming Kindergarten Students

    • No academic requirements apply.

Incoming 1st - 3rd Grade Students

    • Successful completion of the previous grade level.
    • Demonstrate grade-level proficiency on prior year’s district assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
    • Other sources of data indicating your student has grade-level appropriate skills will be considered.

Incoming 4th - 8th Grade Students

    • Successful completion of the previous grade level which includes satisfactory grades in math, science, social studies, and English Language Arts.
    • Previous year’s Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics indicate your student’s skills are proficient**

Incoming 9th Grade

    • Successful completion of the previous grade level which includes satisfactory grades in math, science, social studies, and English Language Arts.
    • Previous year’s Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics indicate your student’s skills are proficient**.

Incoming 10th Grade

    • Previous year’s Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics indicate your student’s skills are proficient**.
    • 6 accumulated credits
    • Successful course completion of 1 English credit, 1 math credit, and 1 science credit
    • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0

Incoming 11th Grade

    • Previous year’s Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics indicate your student’s skills are proficient**.
    • 12 accumulated credits
    • Successful course completion of 2 English credits, 1 math credit, 1 science credit, and 1 social studies credit
    • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0

Incoming 12th Grade

    • Previous year’s Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics indicate your student’s skills are proficient**.
    • 18 accumulated credits
    • Successful course completion of 3 English credits, 2 math credits, 2 science credits, and 2 social studies credits.
    • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Students must complete at least 1 core course during their 12th-grade year to be eligible for a Basehor-Linwood Virtual School diploma.

** Proficiency is defined as a Level 3 score or higher on the KAP.  

    • Students who did not achieve a Level 3 score on the KAP will be considered if he or she has demonstrated grade-level proficiency on an approved district standardized achievement test or can show a strong academic history.
Prior Year Homeschool Students
    • For Kansas residents who lived out-of-state the prior school year or for homeschooled students, please contact the BLVS office for the requirements necessary to document your student's academic skill level.

Students with Disabilities

  • Students with disabilities are required to meet the same admission requirements as their non-disabled peers.
  • As part of the enrollment process and required paperwork, parents MUST provide a current IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and the most recent comprehensive evaluation report. This will assist the team in determining the appropriate services and supports your student will need while attending BLVS.

Technology Requirements

To maintain contact with teachers, staff, and administration, students must have daily access to the following:

  • Email
  • Telephone
