About the Distance Learning/Credit Recovery Program:
BLVS opened in 1998 as the first virtual program in Kansas. The courses are all designed and taught by Basehor-Linwood School District certified teachers and the program is fully accredited by the state of Kansas.
NCAA Eligibility Rules:
If your student is planning to participate in NCAA Division I or II athletics or activities please visit the BLVS Director prior to enrolling.
Tuition/Fees:
Both the Distance Learning and Credit Recovery Program has a fee of $150 per semester credit (.5) that would need to be paid before the course will be activated. Textbooks are provided within this fee structure and must be returned at the time the final exam is taken for credit to be issued. BLVS accepts cash, check, money order, and/or credit/debit cards. Fees must be paid in full during your scheduled New Student Training. If you decide to drop the course for any reason, refunds will only be issued within 10 days of your training date, unless the course has already been started. Should the student fail the course, or fail to complete the course before the end of our term (generally the last Thursday in June), refunds will not be issued.
Requirements:
If you are a student enrolled in a public or private school you will need to obtain prior approval from your school administrator or counselor before enrolling. Your high school counselor is most knowledgeable about your transcript and credit requirements and should be contacted to determine the course(s) you need.
We will hold one (1) training session for Distance Learning/Credit Recovery courses each month from August through May. Attendance at the training session is by appointment only. Students and parents will be scheduled and trained together with other families on these specific days. The training sessions will take approximately one hour to pay the course fee, complete paperwork, and learn how to access and complete the selected course. The absolute deadline for completing all courses started during the school year is typically the last Thursday in June. If the course is not completed by this deadline the student will be charged a $50 reactivation fee to restart the course in the fall.
Students are also responsible for obtaining their own computer and internet access. We do not provide computers for students taking Distance Learning/Credit Recovery courses.
Academic Support Services:
BLVS students have access to 40+ licensed professionals (teachers, administrators, counselors) who provide instructional and assessment support for all courses. It is the responsibility of students and parents to monitor progress and grades through Canvas and to communicate with the BLVS staff through the student's BLVS Google e-mail accounts.
Final Exams:
Once all course work is complete, students must take their semester final exam at our office. Please call (913) 724-1727 to schedule the final.

Upon termination of enrollment, you are responsible for returning all materials and textbooks within 30 days, or the collection process will be turned over to a State Collection Service.
