Adult (19+) Program

About the Adult (19+) Program:
BLVS opened in 1998 as the first virtual program in Kansas. The courses are all designed and taught by Basehor-Linwood School District certified teachers and the program fully accredited by the state of Kansas. This program is for adults who are 19 and older looking to receive their high school diploma. This is not a GED program.

Tuition/Fees:
None. Our program is completely free to Kansas residents.

Requirements:
Basehor-Linwood Virtual School has certain requirements that all students fulfill to maintain enrollment. It is important to communicate with us if you are having any difficulties meeting these expectations. The progress of our students will be monitored on a weekly basis. To see a complete listing of these requirements check the student handbook, pages 8-10. The student handbook can be found on the right side panel.

Attendance:
BLVS recommends that adult students only work on one class at a time. When students come in to take their finals and return their textbook, their next class is started at that time. This process can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Academic Support Services:
BLVS students have access to 40+ licensed professionals (teachers, administrators, counselors) who provide instructional and assessment support for all courses. It's the responsibility of students to monitor their progress and grades through Canvas and to communicate with the BLVS staff through the student's BLVS Google e-mail accounts.

BLVS Students also connect with USD 458's Basehor-Linwood Care Cat program to provide tutoring and academic assistance to our students.

Textbooks:
Textbooks are processed, exchanged and purchased in time for school to begin in August. It is the student's responsibility to maintain proper use of all leased materials and textbooks. Upon termination of enrollment, you are responsible for returning all materials and textbooks within 30 days, or the collection process will be turned over to a State Collection Service.
